Analyze all the latest figures of Russian imports of herring from around the globe, for Q1, Q2 and Q3 2014
Find out all the key data on herring volumes, importers and exporters into Russia for January through September 2014, with a comparison with data for Jan - Sept 2013, with this report. Compiled by Customs Inform, Herring Imports to Russia Jan – Sept 2014 provides a ranking of Russia's top 60 herring importers, and of the top exporters, for the period. Coming amid Russia's Aug. 7 ban on western food imports and ever-lower herring TACs, the report shows Russia’s herring imports took a heavy blow from the sanctions, which cut off access from its key supplier Norway. While export volumes were on par year-on-year prior to the ban and all the way to the end of August, they more than halved year-on-year in September. Iceland's volumes to Russia in the first nine months of the year have doubled year-on-year. However, large part of this happened before the ban, with exports in August and September up 50% year-on-year. Finland and Estonia had also seen their exports to Russia grow signifcantly, prior to the ban. In the case of the Faroes, the only other exporter still able to sell herring to Russia, its exports are down from last year. September 2014 exports from the Faroes, which slashed its herring TAC to 40,000t this year, were just half the levels of last year's. Find out this and more in this report.
